NIKA is hiring for a Building Inventory Manager to provide on-site project support services at the Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA!!

  • Associates degree or technical degree
  • OSHA 10 safety credential or ability to obtain

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to survey, validate, and document building equipment from the primary NMC hospital buildings and outlying clinics in the greater San Diego Area.
  • The Inventory Manager serves to maintain complete and up to date records of facility assets supporting preventative maintenance activities and reducing lifecycle costs for building systems.
  • The primary focus of this role is to track and ensure proper turnover of Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) from construction contractor to maintenance personnel. RPIE information must be removed, updated, or added to the Navy Medical Center DMLSS database so that corrective and preventative maintenance requirements are carried out by maintenance personnel.
  • The candidate shall have general knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire/life safety including doors and electrical systems.
  • The contractor shall provide services necessary to assist with the inventory operation support in the facilities department
  • Creates schedules, monitors stock levels, provides assistance in the preparation and review of service order tasks and manages inventory documentation
  • Plans, implements and manages procedures to optimize inventory control
  • Maintains DMLSS database for facility room usage, room codes, and RPIE assets
  • Conducts on-site inspections to verify building inventory data
  • Validates inventory data allowing decision matters at all levels to view accurate information on facilities
  • Performs daily analysis to predict potential inventory problems
  • Coordinates with facility personnel to monitor the level of supplies
  • Identifies solutions for continuous improvements


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the visual inspection and identification of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire and life safety systems
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to take adapt quickly to the closeout of multiple repair projects
  • Must possess a vehicle and valid US driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance
  • Contractor must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn and use company software tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
