NIKA is hiring for a Healthcare/Accreditation Manager to provide support services to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) based out of our San Antonio, TX office!

Roles and Responsibilities
The duties below outline the function the DHA Healthcare/Accreditation Manager will
perform on a regular basis:

  • Support the DHA Program Manager as the Accreditation technical advisor for DHA
    Facilities Operations Branch.
  • DHA’s area of responsibility (AOR) includes all Army, Air Force, and Navy Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide.
  • Individual is typically delegated complete responsibility and authority to plan, schedule, and carry out training and consultation for MTF’s as it pertains to compliance with the fire safety, Statement of Conditions, & Environment of Care programs in accordance with Joint Commission & NFPA standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and carry out training and consultation for MTF’s as it pertains to compliance with the fire safety, Statement of Conditions, & Environment of Care programs in accordance with Joint Commission & NFPA standards.
  • Ensures Anti-Deficiency Act (ADA), American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAC), Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other accrediting organization’s requirements are met. Research is in areas of microbiology, virology, serology, dental implant and reconstruction, as well as orthopedic specialties. Both laboratory research and small animal research are conducted at these facilities.
  • Works within military command structure to accomplish missions. Develops detailed quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques covering complex program functions.
  • Develop approaches to identify workload factors and performance criteria to determine effectiveness of operations.
  • Prepare budgetary estimates and justifications to obtain program fiscal resources.
  • Collaborates with head of other elements to negotiate, decide on, and/or coordinate changes affecting other activities.
  • Develops, evaluates, and implements immediate and long-range goals, objectives, plans and schedules to meet substantial changes in program authority and/or funding.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and improves processes and procedures to monitor the efficiency and productivity of the projects/programs directed. Makes intensive analysis of material; develops recommendations (propose program changes, changes to regulations or other course of action) to DHA Facilities Operations Branch (FOB) based on analysis.
  • Review and approve file substance of reports, decisions, and other documents to assure that they accurately reflect the policies and position of the organization and the view of the DHA FOB. Responsible for use of judgment and discretion in determining intent, and in interpreting and revising existing policy and regulatory guidance for use by MTFs.
  • Develops methods to measure program accomplishments, results and effectiveness. Represents the DHA FOB at meetings, briefings, conferences, hearings, etc. with higher headquarters; officials of other Federal agencies; State, County, and local authorities and the public on matters related to engineering/facilities management.
  • Ensures commitments to and from MTFs are met. Resolves controversies among elements, Federal agencies, and non-federal entities. Attends or conducts meetings, gives briefings, or makes presentations on behalf of DHA FOB.
  • Speaks with the authority of the DHA FOB on accreditation issues concerning the assigned
    program.
  • Required to travel 25-30% of the time to domestic and overseas DHA facility locations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution but can be waived if equivalent
    experience level is acceptable to the government.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience managing medical facilities compliance with the fire safety,
    Statement of Conditions, & Environment of Care programs in accordance with Joint
    Commission & NFPA standards.
  • Five (5) years’ technical experience with Environment of Care.
  • Working knowledge of the DMLSS – FM Module, working knowledge with current
    National Fire Protection (NFPA) codes, and standards applicable to Healthcare; knowledge and familiarity with current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for medical facilities; knowledge of facility condition inspections, real property inventory procedures, corrective action planning, and high level root cause failure analysis.
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional
    (CHSP).
  • Possess an active favorable NACI.

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or other
    project management solution to manage projects.
  • Healthcare Facilities Management experience.
  • Joint Commission Fellowship.
  • Formal knowledge of NFPA 101 & TJC Life Safety Standards, FGI, ASHRAE, EPA & review NFPA codes/process& technological facility controls.
