NIKA is hiring for an exciting opportunity as a Director of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition working out of our Rockville, MD office! This role will be responsible for managing and leading a team responsible for the delivery of a best in class Human Resources function inclusive of Benefits Administration, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Training and Affirmative Action.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Provide high level leadership and hands-on management of the Human Resources Team in support of the strategic direction of the Company’s people strategy. Manage a team of 6 human resource professionals responsible for the delivery of benefits, talent acquisition, compensation, employee engagement and employee support strategies.
  • Lead and manage the Talent Acquisition Team. Ensure the delivery and support of the short and long term strategic growth goals of the Company. Provide a vision and set priorities for the team on the execution of attracting quality talent, effective communications with the Business Units, reporting capabilities to Senior Management, recruiter productivity and the overall applicant experience.
  • Play a key Human Resources Advisor role to Business Unit Management and provide them guidance on talent acquisition, employee development, employee relations matters and disciplinary actions.
  • Run the ADP system and manage the relationship with ADP representatives. Communicate any operational issues with ADP representatives to ensure system efficiency. Collaborate with Payroll on all operational matters. Develop and generate operational data reports upon request. Assure that all employee data is input correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employee benefit programs, assess benefit needs and trends, recommend benefit changes to management, direct the processing of benefit claims, evaluate benefit contracts and facilitate the annual open enrollment process for domestic and international plans.
  • Oversee the new employee on-boarding process for Headquarters and remote employees. Ensure that all managers are following the KiSSFLOW process, follow up with employees on a 30- and 90-day basis and report on issues and trends to management as necessary.
  • Drive the annual Performance Evaluation Process through the Clear Company system. Ensure that evaluations are delivered to employees on a minimum of an annual basis and assist and educate Managers on the proper delivery of performance information and record keeping.
  • Collaborate with our broker and plan administrator to run the 401K program. Annually evaluate fund performance, recommend changes and communicate changes to employees and management. Review the Company matching program quarterly to ensure that there are no discrepancies.
  • Work with vendor partners to design and organize quarterly educational classes to keep employees informed of all benefit matters and changes.
  • Develop, update and maintain the Company’s Affirmative Action Plan. File the EEO-1 and VETS 100 annually and maintain all records. Collaborate with and deliver all necessary data to our vendor partner, annually, for submittal to the government.
  • Rewrite and update job descriptions as necessary.
  • Conduct annual salary surveys and analyze market compensation trends for all active positions within the Company.
  • Update personal job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.


  • Minimum of 10 years of Human Resources Background at a Senior Generalist level with at least 5 years of proven management experience leading a Human Resources and Talent Acquisition Team.
  • Ability to partner with department leads in support of your internal clients to accomplish operating objectives.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization.
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to take initiative and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
  • Experience using broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid command of the English language, grammar and spelling both in written and spoken form.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office suite products required. Ability to learn and use company software tools.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a Human Resources or Business/Management curriculum.
  • SPHR a plus, but not required.
