NIKA is hiring for an Electrician to support a facilities operations and maintenance support services contract at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work
  • Diagnoses electrical problems and determines appropriate methods of repair
  • Estimates cost of labor and materials
  • Determines the layout of projects
  • Completes projects according to blueprints, plans, schematics, or other relevant technical documents
  • Installs, tests, and replaces components of electrical circuitry and internal power distribution systems including conduit, wiring, connections, receptacles, breakers, panels, and switches
  • Tests, repairs, and replaces or installs electrical generators, transformers, and uninterrupted power systems
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs motors, controls, and other electrical components of equipment and appliances including heating, air conditioning, pumping, and solid-state control systems
  • Installs, tests, and repairs doorbells, buzzers, fire alarm and security systems, thermostats, lighting fixtures, and communications systems
  • Prepares and keeps records of time and materials used
  • Uses tools and equipment of the electrical trade
  • Follows and ensures compliance with safety procedures and electrical codes
  • May inspect and approve the electrical work of outside contractors
  • Ensures contract performance in accordance with the direction and policies of NIKA

Required Skills

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working electrical services in commercial facilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security clearance
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Have a background in governmental maintenance services; and understand contract operations and functions with an emphasis on US Governmental operations and maintenance type contracts preferred
  • Individual should be familiar with government organization and functions; understand current procurement best practices; able to organize and express ideas through excellent oral and written communications to a wide variety of audiences; and demonstrate an unquestionable sense of integrity, honesty, and loyalty
  • The ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and resolve issues


  • Must have an unlimited State of North Carolina Electrical Contractor’s license
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience using broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, other MS Office suite products, and CMMS is preferred
  • Ability to learn and use company software tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to take initiative and adapt quickly to changing requirements

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Must have an unlimited State of North Carolina Electrical Contractor’s license
  • Must maintain all required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable
  • Required to maintain a valid state driver’s license
