NIKA is hiring for an Electronic Technician to support a facility operations and maintenance support services contract at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of duties and tests using approved procedures to ensure that all telemetry and instrumentation systems are within the operating parameters of the water treatment plant, booster stations, and elevated water storage tanks
  • Isolates all problems to their faulty component then remove, bench test, and repair
  • Uses a variety of electronic testing equipment to ensure accuracy of diagnosis and repairs; maintains test equipment and tools in working order
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, programs, calibrates, tests and monitors equipment used in water treatment systems, including SCADA and radio equipment, process instrumentation, computer systems and the associated networks
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment
  • Responds to trouble calls, as needed, to make necessary repairs
  • Draws schematic diagrams for all systems and keep updating as changes are made
  • Performs related electrical work as required, work involves the responsibility of performing tasks using necessary safety precautions applicable to work
  • Performs inventory of supplies and submits orders to water plant supervision for supplies and materials needed for day to day maintenance and repair activities
  • Informs and advises supervision of all pertinent matters
  • Ensures contract performance in accordance with the direction and policies of NIKA

Required Skills

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with security systems, fire alarm systems, PA systems, and sprinkler control systems in commercial facilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Background and knowledge of the practices, procedures and processes of contracts administration; knowledge of relevant laws, FAR, regulations, terms, conditions, and policies governing contracts; ability to prepare cost proposals and meet deadlines
  • Have a background in governmental maintenance services is preferred
  • Individual should be familiar with government organization and functions; understand current procurement best practices; able to organize and express ideas through excellent oral and written communications to a wide variety of audiences; and demonstrate an unquestionable sense of integrity, honesty, and loyalty
  • The ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and resolve issues


  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience using broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, other MS Office suite products, and CMMS are required
  • Ability to learn and use company software tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to take initiative and adapt quickly to changing requirements

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Possessing a State of North Carolina Security Alarm License is highly preferred
  • Must be bondable
  • Must maintain all required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable
  • Required to maintain a valid state driver’s license
