Field Energy Engineer

Location: Rockville, MD, US
NIKA is hiring for a Field Energy Engineer. The Field Energy Engineer will play a key role in helping government agencies implement projects related to energy engineering, energy and water master planning, and retro-commissioning. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating within a team environment, since you will liaise directly with resource energy managers, data analysts, and other members of the field team. This position can support from our HQ office in Rockville, MD or our San Antonio, TX office!

Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical/industrial/energy engineering is required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is desired
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equal is desired
- Commissioning Authority (CxA) or equal certification is desired
Position Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure grade energy and water audits, including controls, lighting and BAS at large hospitals and clinics.
- 3-5 years experience in evaluation of retro-commissioning measures for energy and water systems including BAS, controls, steam systems, chilled water and hot water systems, boiler systems, lighting and process systems at large hospitals and clinics.
- Ability to effectively communicate recommendations both in technical writing and oral presentations.
- Experience in providing energy and water training to O&M staff
- Demonstrated expertise in performing building energy simulations using software packages.
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel.
- Ability to read and manipulate energy related data in commercially available database
- Proficiency in EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager program
Responsibilities
- Perform site investigations, including data gathering/condition assessment of existing HVAC, plumbing and electrical, systems, building automation systems, utility meters, sub-metering, software, hardware, and certifications.
- Identify, analyze and recommend energy and water conservation and renewable energy projects.
- Identify and execute retro-commissioning measures related existing HVAC, plumbing, domestic water and building automation systems.
- Perform building energy simulations using modeling software( this is desired experience and knowledge).
- Work closely with the regional energy managers in analysis of systems and production of reports.
- Troubleshoot existing operation and maintenance issues and recommend repair/retrofit projects.
- Provide training to operations and maintenance staff. Perform expert technical and financial analyses of energy conservation measures, water conservation measures, and renewable energy measures.
- Develop energy and water master plans, including renewable energy and combined heat and power studies.
- Track energy and utility cost savings associated with energy projects.
- Other Duties as assigned.

• Ability to obtain security clearance is required
• CONUS and OCONUS travel is required • Up to 50% travel
