NIKA is hiring for a High Voltage Electrician for a High Voltage Electrical maintenance and services contract supporting multiple facilities in San Diego, CA!!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work
  • Supports high voltage services for multiple facilities, annexes, and associated buildings and structures under the NAVFAC SW umbrella
  • Diagnoses electrical problems and determines appropriate methods of repair
  • Estimates cost of labor and materials
  • Determines the layout of projects
  • Completes projects according to blueprints, plans, schematics, or other relevant technical documents
  • Installs, tests, and replaces components of electrical circuitry and internal power distribution systems including conduit, wiring, connections, receptacles, breakers, panels, and switches with an emphasis on high voltage systems and equipment
  • Tests, repairs, and replaces or installs electrical generators, transformers, and uninterrupted power systems
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs motors, controls, and other electrical components of equipment and appliances including heating, air conditioning, pumping, solid-state control systems, and relevant high voltage systems and equipment
  • Installs, tests, and repairs relevant electrical systems with a focus on high voltage systems and equipment
  • Prepares and keeps records of time and materials used
  • Uses tools and equipment of the electrical trade
  • Follows and ensures compliance with safety procedures and electrical codes
  • May inspect and approve the electrical work of outside contractors
  • Ensures contract performance in accordance with the direction and policies of NIKA

Required Skills

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working electrical services in commercial facilities
  • Shall know and comply with IEEE, OSHA, NICET, NETA (NETA level 2, level 3, or level 4 certified), UFC, NFPA, NEC standards with respect to the task being done.
  • Shall possess all applicable state, federal, and/or local certification as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Have a background in governmental maintenance services; and understand contract operations and functions with an emphasis on US Governmental operations and maintenance type contracts preferred.

  • Individual should be familiar with government organization and functions; understand current procurement best practices; able to organize and express ideas through excellent oral and written communications to a wide variety of audiences; and demonstrate an unquestionable sense of integrity, honesty, and loyalty
  • The ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and resolve issues
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Must maintain all required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable
  • Required to maintain a valid state driver’s license
