NIKA is hiring for an Interior Designer to provide support as a subject matter expert (SME) interior design consultation from project conception through completion in our San Antonio, TX location!

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture preferred
  • NCIDQ professional certification required
  • IIDA affiliation preferred

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in developing language for performance work statement as applicable to interior design consulting.
  • Provide quality and performance-based documentation for healthcare interior lighting, finishes, furniture, artwork and signage.
  • Where necessary, update AFMSA standards/criteria or assist in updating Military Health System (MHS) standards/criteria.
  • Review and assist Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) on smaller sustainment/repair projects with interior design components (finishes, furniture, signage, etc.)
  • Provide recommendations for current ergonomic and environmental factors that contribute to the healthy environment of a healthcare facility.
  • Provide reports, presentations, and briefings for large diverse group of stake holders
  • Meet tight project schedules and deadlines.
  • Provide Program and/or Project Management support to ensure projects are performed and delivered under constraints that include but are not limited to the following; scope, time, cost and quality.
  • Review and critique all project submittals for AFMSA HFD, provide technical evaluations of contractor submittals, and submit findings to the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the government database (currently ProjNet).
  • Assist acquisition/contract personnel as technical advisor to support the program/projects per the provisions.
  • Attend quarterly meetings with Defense Health Agency (DHA) counterparts.

Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

  • 5+ years of Interior Design experience within healthcare facilities and/or federal facilities experience required.
  • Be able to travel if necessary.
  • Must attend necessary continuing education courses/conferences required to maintain currency as an Interior Design SME in the healthcare design profession
  • It is preferable for the individual to attend the annual NeoCon and Healthcare Design Conferences, if mission requirements allow.
  • Experience using broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office suite products required
  • Ability to learn and use company software tools
