NIKA is hiring for an Information Technology (IT) Specialist to support technical services at the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) at Fort Bragg, NC!!

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing networking support, telephony support, computer host and applications support, management and coordination and information assurance support to the hospital
  • Assist in isolating network hardware and software problems and taking corrective steps to restore services.
  • Assist in establishing, monitoring, and reporting on network performance baselines. This includes assisting in establishing performance baselines for network devices and systems, monitoring performance for network devices and systems, and reporting network device and system performance.
  • Provide Tier I Help Desk support services to CBMH personnel to ensure the operability, continuity, and availability of clinical and business applications and computer systems within the CBMH by:
    • Assist in the administration, operation, and monitoring of the computer hosts installed at the CBMH.
    • Advise on the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hosts and clinical or business applications at the CBMH in accordance with applicable Federal, DoD, MHS, Army, MEDCOM, and local MTF regulations, policies, and guidance.
    • Advise on the hardware installation/deinstallation services as required to replace defective or failed components or systems.
    • Providing CBMH personnel with assistance required to isolate and resolve computer host, and clinical or business application related problems.
    • Assisting CBMH personnel with the use and operation of clinical and business applications.
  • Provide management and coordination support services within the CBMH to document the integration of new systems, technologies, or operational requirements by:
    • Conducting government mandated and approved quality assurance inspections for the implementation of new systems (network, telephony, computer, host, applications, etc.) to ensure integration into technical, functional, or IA baselines.
    • Advise on testing and evaluating hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system, as required.
    • Using the Remedy trouble ticketing system to document problems, outages, and resolution steps for all IM/IT hardware, software, or applications.
  • The AE shall provide support for IA services within the CBMH to support the local MTF IA management Team by:
    • Assist in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Personal Health Information (PHI)systems, networks, and data in transition and data at rest through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
    • Assist in the testing, execution and management of disaster recovery operations required to restore computer hosts, clinical / business applications, and data in the event of a natural or man-made event.
    • Assist in ensuring all devices connecting to the CBMH network comply with applicable security and information assurance policy. This includes implementing new systems in accordance with applicable security policy, updating existing systems to reflect applicable security policy changes, applying changes as required by the Army Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) program, reporting status of IAVA compliance.

Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Information Systems & Security IAMS or related field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience within Information Technology 
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of healthcare operations and related communication and electronic security equipment and systems (CES), and be proficient in reading (and/or translating requirements into) design/construction/installation documents.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance
