NIKA is hiring for an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Accounting and Finance working out of our Rockville, MD HQ office!

Education

  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/MBA preferred, but not required

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of day to day Accounting operations, including but not limited to managing A/P, A/R, cash management, prepaids, overseeing general ledger activities, and supervise Accounting staff.
  • Assist Director of Finance in leading month end close activities: journal entries, analysis, A/R & AP review, ensuring that relevant deadlines are met and looking for ways to continuously improve this process.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package to executive management- Income Statement variants, supplementary schedules.
  • Play a lead role in developing, improving, and managing internal financial controls and processes.
  • Manage the reconciliation of sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
  • Manage reconciliation of fixed asset schedules.
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet, income statement variance analyses.
  • Assist with annual financial audit and various other year end accounting activities.
  • Assist with researching and resolving technical accounting issues
  • Assist preparing monthly/quarterly banking reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets/forecasts.
  • Ad hoc analyses and projects as needed; other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

  • 6-8 years of experience in an accounting role. Regional / Big 4 Firm experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing accounting teams, processes and internal financial controls.
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Diligent, high standards of accuracy with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Adept in working in a high energy, changing environment and an ability to manage multiple initiatives at one time and meet deadlines is essential.
  • Proactive, high energy, solution orientated team player.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Govcon, process-based accounting system is required, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Outlook also required.
