Senior Architect

Department: Architecture and Engineering and Planning
Location: Rockville, MD, US

Seeking a qualified Architect in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area. We are a leading architecture and engineering firm providing a range of professional services in AE Services for government, healthcare and institutional buildings. 

The candidate would be responsible for whole building design and leading the architectural design and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams for projects ranging in size and scope. As a member of our team you may:• Oversee and execute design, drawing production, quality assurance, and coordination of AE building and renovation projects
• Oversee execution of project schedules
• Oversee productivity of projects in accordance with the financial goals
• Manage multiple projects and AE team squads in execution of the work
• Direct & oversee collegial staff with technical architectural requirements for projects
• Interface with other project leaders and unit leaders to coordinate schedules and staffing between projects.
• Interfacing with clients and attending meetings as required
• Site visits to verify that the work complies with what the contract states, codes, standards, etc.
• Providing direction and assistance to collegial staff
• Perform field analysis with associated reports and presentations
• Travel approximately 5-10 times a year
• Ability to multi-task including directing staff, mentoring other engineers, producing documents, and coordinating with other trades.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field
  • Architectural Registration and NCARB certification highly referred
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Must have experience in construction specifications such as Master Spec and SpecsIntact
  • LEED Certification desired
  • Minimum of 15 years of architectural design and management 
  • Must have government project experience, medical and healthcare heavily preferred
  • Strong Design Excellence background
  • Be able to review design and construction submittals, trouble shoot systems, and assist the project managers and quality assurance personnel.
  • Experience with non-traditional contract vehicles such as design/build
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; strong organizational skills
  • Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present clear and technically sound engineering strategies
  • Leadership potential
  • Need to be able to acquire clearance and US government access suitability 
  • Review of portfolio of work will be under high critique
