NIKA is hiring for a Senior Mechanical Engineer be a part of an Airforce Medical building engineering service team in San Antonio, TX!! The candidate would be primarily responsible for project management support, feasibility studies, conditions surveys, and design build RFPs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience in controls & trouble shooting
  • Design of HVAC mechanical systems
  • Extensive experience in site assessments & reports
  • Performing calculations
  • Equipment selection and specification
  • Construction administration, drawings review, response to requests for information
  • Interfacing with facility managers, clients etc. and attending meetings as required
  • Site visits to verify that the work complies with what the contract states, codes, standards, etc.
  • Perform field analysis with associated reports and presentations
  • Travel approximately 10+ times a year
  • Ability to multi-task including coordinating with other trades and working on a portfolio of multiple projects.

Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of ten years of mechanical design
  • Experience with HVAC and supporting systems
  • Be able to review design and construction submittals, trouble shoot systems, and assist the project managers and quality assurance personnel.
  • Federal and/or federal healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience with non-traditional contract vehicles such as design/build
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; strong organizational skills
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present clear and technically sound engineering strategies
  • Leadership potential
  • Eligibility for a clearance with the US government
  • Energy Modelling with Trace, Quest, or similar systems
