NIKA is hiring for an exciting opportunity as a Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations/CFO working out of our Rockville, MD headquarters!

The SVP of Finance and Operations will join NIKA’s Executive Leadership Team and will lead a variety of functions to include Finance, Accounting, Contracts Administration, and Other Operational areas as assigned. The SVP of Finance and Operations must be an experienced executive who is able to develop people, processes and systems that enable a high-growth organization to operate seamlessly. The role requires technical expertise, and broad leadership and managerial experience combined with a collegial style that will engender trust and foster collaboration. The successful candidate must have the communication capabilities needed to be an effective collaborator, consultant, communicator, and leader, along with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and operational reports, policies, regulations, accounting standards, and legal documents. Ability to provide meaningful context for complicated reports and business strategies to multiple stakeholders.

This position oversees a wide range of functions, which at minimum will include: Finance, FP&A Accounting, Contracts Administration, and possibly others. This position will manage a team of at least 6 professionals, and more as the company continues to execute its growth strategy.

As SVP Of Finance and Operations, you will:

  • Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and be a member of NIKA’s Executive Leadership Team
  • Serve as the top financial advisor for NIKA. Advise the COO and other key members of the executive leadership and senior management teams on fiscal strategies related to financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
  • Provide financial perspective and analysis to the evaluation of key strategic initiatives
  • Oversee the Finance department and its work to maintain organizational financial health, including oversight and governance for the annual planning and budgeting process, developing accurate monthly forecasts, directing audit and tax activities, and promotion of strong internal controls and management safeguards. Responsible for accounting policies and practices.
  • Oversee the Contracts Administration department and personnel. Lead and direct all day-to-day Contracts activities including review of government contract awards, issuance of various contractual documents to customers, partners, and vendors, ensure the organization is compliant with government contracts compliance requirements, and oversee negotiations regarding contracts.
  • Play a lead role in future planned acquisition due diligence and acquisition integration planning.
  • Oversee and lead all business risk management policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement and monitor fiscal policies, goals, and objectives
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reports and information is available for monthly business reviews (MBRs)
  • Manage cash flow to ensure funds are available for business needs, including cash management strategies and lead banking relationships.
  • Responsible for optimal use of Financial and Operational Systems to include but not limited to Microsoft Nav (accounting), ADP Payroll, and Contracts Repository.
  • Manage the relationships with key external vendors, partners, and stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • 15+ years of successful leadership experience with the right mix of strategy and operational execution, with direct oversight of the Finance, Accounting, and Contracts functions required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Government Contracting industry required.
    Demonstrated success and experience in a fast paced, high growth stage organization required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service based and customer centric culture.
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation.
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining diverse teams.
  • Professional Services experience desired with a preference for candidates with Engineering and Facilities Management backgrounds.
  • MBA, CPA, and BIG 4 Firm experience desired.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate a clear and compelling vision and lead others to implement it.
  • Travel will be required up to 40%, at various times throughout the year.
