NIKA is hiring for a Technical Writer supporting our Proposals and Business Development team!  This opportunity will be located out of our Rockville, MD HQ office, or can be supported remote from your home location! As a member of our dynamic Marketing and Proposals team, your work will be integral to the success of NIKA’s growth strategy and key pursuits. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in English, Business, Communications, or related field.

Position Requirements

  • Must have 8+ years of federal government Technical Writing experience.
  • Industry experience is required – Facilities Management, A&E, or construction
  • Technical Writer will report to the Vice President of Marketing and Proposals and be responsible for writing and managing the development, coordination, and completion of Request for Proposal (RFP) responses that are compliant and compelling.

Responsibilities 

  • Expert Level Technical writer with business development and competitive proposal experience.
  • Interpret customer requirements and work with SMEs to write clear, concise, and compelling proposal documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and program leadership to capture key concepts and ideas while maintaining consistency in messaging and strategy through the use of proper tone/voice.
  • Writing assignments may include white papers, RFI responses, proposal technical content and solutions, past performance, staffing plans, and resumes for on-contract growth or new business pursuits.
  • Conceive, write, edit and proofread communications including, technical documents, presentations and customer-specific marketing materials.
  • Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and management ensuring that final documents.
  • Communicate with document authors during the writing and editing process and work with technical staff to research and review documentation.
  • Consult with relevant information sources, including research, technical documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information.
  • Edit proposal material for content consistency, compliance and grammatical errors. Format proposal, integrating adjustments from team reviews.
  • Provide editing and proofreading through all stages of communications.
  • Advance communication processes, guidelines and standard procedures including document management, review and approval processes and quality control.

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills. Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact with partners and subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities, as well as verbal communications skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, especially for technical documents – including commensurate expertise with advanced features of MS Word for document design, layout, and formatting; MS PowerPoint, Excel, and others (e.g., Adobe).
  • Experience in supporting the development of Federal Requests for Proposals including compliant, customer-focused proposal sections.
  • Familiarity with federal government contracting, solicitations, and RFP process is required.
  • Familiarity with Government procurement sites such as GovWin, FBO, etc.
  • A customer service mindset and approach are critical.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well both in a team and independently.
  • Experience with graphics, desktop publishing or related field is desired.
