NIKA is hiring for a Utility Outage Manager who will provide technical expertise as related to mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems used within healthcare facilities. The primary focus of this role will be to coordinate utility outages to facilitate construction and maintenance work in an active hospital at the Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA!!

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews utility outage requests to determine which areas of the hospital building will be directly impacted and schedules proposed construction and maintenance work accordingly to minimize impacts to hospital operations
  • Coordinates with end users to alter, reduce or cease hospital services based on the impact and duration of utility outages
  • Collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to complete work so that outages for construction and maintenance work to be accomplished
  • Survey, investigate and identify all affected equipment and/or building systems as a result of a utility outage
  • Meets with executive leadership on a weekly basis to report upcoming hospital campus utility outages
  • Facilitate coordination meetings in front of a large audience of clinical staff to ensure cooperation and mitigation plans are in place to respond to utility outages

Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience using broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues
  • Excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office suite products required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and the ability to take initiative and adapt quickly to changing requirements
