Jimmie “JJ” Jackson
Vice President of Business Development and Capture
Jimmie “JJ” Jackson, Jr. serves as Vice President of Business Development and Capture at NIKA, where he directs business development activity and works with the rest of strategic growth team throughout the capture process. He identifies business opportunities, develops win strategies, and contributes to proposal development, leading to the successful capture of new business and recompete opportunities. JJ is a highly effective, hands-on operational leader with extensive experience leading cross-functional teams in both the military and in the private sector.
As a 33-year veteran of the United States Air Force and one-star general, JJ brings a unique perspective and insight into the DoD acquisition process, as well as the full life cycle of the opportunity identification, pursuit, and capture process. He is a former command pilot and he held five command assignments at various levels, as well as staff positions at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, United States Transportation Command, The Pentagon and NATO. JJ’s most recent assignment was the Commandant (College President) of Air Command and Staff College Maxwell AFB in Alabama. His broad background in operations and programming experience, combined with an ability to communicate complex ideas into easily understood concepts, makes JJ a powerful force in growing large, diverse, multi-cultural, and joint organizations like NIKA.
Prior to joining NIKA, JJ served as the AF Program Manager and Vice President Corporate Services and Support at ITility, LLC. He also held multiple roles as COO, Vice President AF Programs, and AF Account Executive in small businesses, including two service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB).
JJ has extensive educational credentials that include an MS in national security strategy from the National War College, an MS in personnel supervision and management from Troy State University, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Texas A&M University. He has also completed additional coursework at the Tuck Business School at Dartmouth, the University of Tennessee, the NATO School, the Center for Creative Leadership La Jolla, CA, and Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
JJ is active in a wide variety of professional organizations, including the Air Force Association, Airlift Tanker Association, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, American College of Security Leaders, The Flag and General Officer Network, National Order of Daedalians, Texas A&M University Former Students Association, Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets Association, and the Texas A&M University Ross Volunteer Association. He served as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Board for MVLE, a nonprofit that supports individuals living with disabilities, and JJ supports Golden Retriever Rescue Education and Training.
