NIKA is hiring for a Fire Protection Engineer, PE to support the Defense Health Agency’s Engineering division in San Antonio, TX!

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Design fire protection systems
Act as an Authority Having Jurisdiction for DHA
Coordinate with the Joint Commission for Healthcare Accreditation for reviews and accreditation approvals
Plan and direct engineering activities projects
Conduct building fire protection, code and life safety evaluations
Prepare and present technical reports and presentations
Performing site surveys, submittal reviews, inspections, responds to RFIs, and generating punch lists and Life Safety Code drawings for hospitals and other medical treatment facilities for the Defense Health Agency.
Assist facility managers with maintenance issues associated with compliance for healthcare environments, life safety related equipment, and operations of facilities to ensure patient safety and documentation of compliance related work orders.
Ability to multi-task including directing staff, mentoring other engineers, producing documents and coordinating with other trades.
Requirements
Professional Engineering (PE) registration required
BS or higher in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline with fire protection experience and ten (10) or more years of experience
5 years direct experience with medical healthcare or ambulatory surgery occupancy fire protection engineering experience
AutoCAD experience and/or experience with Revit required
Experience with at least one of the three branches of service
Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
Leadership potential
Eligibility for a clearance with the US government
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain security clearance is required
Travel approximately 6-12 times per year
