USACE Awards NIKA $10.28M Task Order to Provide AESR Services at New Army Hospital

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 26, 2016 — Rockville, Md.-based NIKA has been awarded a four-year, $10.28 million task order by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to serve as the Architect Engineer Support Representative (AESR) on the construction of the new Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH) at Fort Irwin, Ca. This 216,000 square foot state-of-the-art healthcare facility will support soldiers and military families at the National Training Center (NTC). Under this task order, NIKA will provide experienced multidisciplinary personnel and full-time, onsite representatives to oversee major medical construction, including the Principal, Program Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer, Low Voltage Systems Electrical Engineer, Cost Estimator, Commissioning Manager, and Master Scheduler.

“With deep expertise in the design, engineering and construction of military medical facilities, NIKA is pleased to be able to continue to help the U.S. military medical community better serve their constituents,” remarked NIKA President and CEO Kabir Chaudhary. “This is a great strategic win for NIKA as we continue to cement our position as a leader in the national market.”

As reflected in USACE’s tagline, “going green by design,” WACH will draw on the power of the site’s unique desert location to achieve sustainability goals. WACH is being designed as an energy efficient facility that includes such renewable energy systems as a photovoltaic array and solar thermal panels that will harness the power of the sun. Furthermore, the task order specifies targeted sustainability measures in order to achieve a U.S. Green Building Council LEED-BD+C platinum-level rating.

“This task order award affirms our firm’s unique experience in providing energy design and green building solutions. Our LEED-accredited professional engineers and architects are known for their ability to create solutions that are both environmentally mindful and economically sound,” said Chaudhary.
