Boiler Tender (Class II Operator)

Location: Kodiak, AK, US
NIKA is hiring for multiple Boiler Tenders (Class II Operators) for a base operations support services contract at the US Coast Guard Base in Kodiak, AK!

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools; cuts and threads pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
- Bends and forms sheet metal for ductwork, grease pans, etc.
- Repairs, overhauls, maintain, and services industrial and residential heating, ventilating, hydronic, and air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units. Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
- Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys. Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters and cleans coils as needed.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
- Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations, as directed.
- Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Possess a current State of Alaska 2nd Class Power Boiler Operator License
- Two (2) years’ verifiable experience as a HVAC technician or Boiler Tender.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
