NIKA is hiring for a Primary Hazardous Waste Technician (HWT) for a base operations support services contract in Kodiak, AK!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Primary Hazardous Waste Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of waste handling/management and warehousing duties for hazardous and non-hazardous waste on the base.

Required Skills

  • Valid Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker/HAZMAT Endorsement
  • Must have one-year operation of TSDF/LQG or similar hazardous waste operations experience to including hazardous waste sampling
  • Completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) course, plus annual eight-hour refresher courses
  • Completion of 24-hour Hazardous Waste Technician, plus annual refresher
  • Knowledgeable in the regulations and requirements governing this work, and skilled in performing it safely, accurately, efficiently, and reliably
  • Support the Hazardous Waste Storage Building (HWSB) operations in accordance with SOPs for Hazardous Waste Technician Duties
  • Ensure that all HWSB operations be performed in strict compliance with the requirements of the applicable Base permits and EPA regulations
  • Must effectively communicate with customers and the HWSB operations manager to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and the efficient performance of work
  • Must hold a current TWIC identification card.
