NIKA is hiring for a Project Accountant to support our Accounting and Finance department at our NIKA HQ office in Rockville, MD!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Updates accounting system billing and revenue recognition to reflect contract modifications
  • Tracks project billing and funding utilization
  • Prepares invoices for customers and, following customers’ procedures, submits said invoices for approvals and payments
  • Posts payments received to the accounting system and manages AR aging balances
  • Perform project profitability analyses, troubleshooting variances and providing commentary for job performance
  • Works closely with Project Managers and other field personnel with reporting, training, and analysis
  • Employs problem-solving skills and financial analysis
  • Develops working knowledge of government contract requirements
  • All work in compliance with FAR, GAAP, and company cost accounting policies and procedures
  • Assists with special projects as needed and performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting responsibilities
  • Minimum two years in project/contract accounting, government contract accounting preferred
  • Working knowledge of GAAP; knowledge of FAR and CAS preferred
  • Experience with UNANET is a plus
  • Advanced MS Excel a plus
