Department: Facilities Operations Management
Location: Rockville, MD, US


NIKA is hiring for a Senior Estimator to support our Business Development team on a consulting or 1099 basis. This position can be supported remotely or from our HQ office in Rockville, MD!

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop competitive staffing and materials estimates based on PWS, SOO, and/or SOWs.
  • Interface with Capture, BD and Operations staff within and outside NIKA to understand requirements.
  • Preparation of the basis of cross-discipline estimate
  • Prepare bid analysis for scope, cost, and price.
    • Validates maintenance manuals,
    • SME inputs to Commercial standards and/or company metrics
  • Conduct work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of preliminary, definitive, change orders and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Prepare equipment and material take-off.
  • Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for costing estimates.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of project and discipline estimate summaries.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of the Basis of Estimate.
  • Participate in estimate reviews.
  • Establish and maintain cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis tools.
  • Develop proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and at least 10 years of experience in the Government Services industry.
    • In lieu of degree requirement, must have at least 18 years of experience in the Government Services industry.
  • Experience with estimating staffing and materials requirements for Facility O&M, Construction, Aircraft Maintenance, Ground Vehicle Maintenance, and/or Construction on Base Operations Support (BOS) Contracts.
  • Must have strong Excel/Access skills, to include the ability to query, create pivot tables, analyze data and link sheets.
  • Knowledge and understanding of estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling bid proposals and construction means, methods, and sequences.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, Requests-for-Proposals and contracts.
  • Possess strong computer skills.
