NIKA is hiring for a Site Safety Health Officer to oversee all quality and safety training, reporting, and reporting for the base operations support contract at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, VA!!

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance, safety, quality, fire, and housekeeping inspections according to the approved Quality Control Management Plan. Adhering to surveillance standards set forth in Quality Control Management Plan and QASP.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating the quality and safety training programs. This may include employee orientations, specific program training, monitoring and assisting in weekly safety meetings, supervisor training, and accident awareness training
  • Performs quality and safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management
  • Assist managers and supervisors in investigating and documenting all property damage, personal injuries, safety violations, and unsafe conditions and activities
  • Work with managers and supervisors in managing hazardous working conditions and eliminating unsafe employee activities.
  • Investigate and recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operations to minimize potential hazards
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations, and any other work that could harm employees’ safety
  • Develop, manage and report on quality and safety programs and plans
  • Assists in the development and implementation of quality and safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements as directed
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Collect, manage and report on safety procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements
  • Advises HQ quality and safety director on any quality or safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
  • Ensure employee understanding of and compliance with all quality and safety company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors’ employees comply with job site quality and safety rules and regulations

Required Skills

  • Minimum of five (5) years of site safety and health management on a base operations support contract or a contract similar in size, scope, and complexity
  • Must have a current Top Secret / SCI US Security Clearance
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred or have more than one certification in the following: Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar accredited certifications
  • Certified in Quality preferred or have a certification in one of the following Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
  • OSHA 500 Certified
  • Completed 40 Hour EM 385-1-1 Course
  • Completed 30 Hour OSHA Construction Course
  • Experience with FARS, DFARS, and other federal regulatory guidance, laws, and requirements
